What happens if there is bad weather on the day of our catamaran tour?

The weather in Mexico at certain times of the year can be very changeable.  We may get rain for half an hour and before you look round the sun will be back out.  This is what keeps the beautiful country so green.  We keep a close eye on the weather and the ocean conditions.  If we can see from the satellite that there is going to be a lot of rain we will not send you out.  If the ocean conditions are rough, even on a beautiful sunny day, we will not send you out.  We will contact you and give you the option to the reschedule to another day and if this is not possible we will give you a refund of the deposit paid for your charter.  Additional chef services cannot be cancelled but we can arrange for the chef to come to your villa with any additional food ordered.

What are your policies of cancellation?

For cancellations made 14 days or more before the date of your trip we only retain 5% to cover our administration fees.

If you cancel between 6 and 13 days from the date of your departure we will retain 20% of the cost of the total charter.

If the cancellation is made with less than 6 days notice the entire deposit will be retained.

Is the boat child friendly?

Youngsters need careful supervision near water and being on a boat is no exception.  Please just remember that they should wear a life jacket at all times and avoid moving around on board unnecessarily, especially if it gets choppy.  There are plenty of shaded areas and they will have a ball swimming, snorkeling and jumping off the boat when we are anchored.

Can I Bring My Own Alcohol?

Yes, no problem at all.  Please just let us know when you arrive and we will have the crew help carry it to the boat and stow it safely to avoid breakages.

Can We Change On Board?

Yes, we have a cabin where you can change and also 2 bathrooms although they are quite small!

Can We Play Our Own Music?

Yes, this is no problem at all.  Bring along your smart phone and we can connect it for you.  However, many of our guests leave asking for our guides playlist!  They are always happy to share this information.

How Safe are the Catamarans?

The catamarans sailed to Mexico from South Africa so they are ocean going.  We are a family run business and have an excellent reputation for not sending the boats out in poor ocean conditions.  The safety of our guests, crew and our boats in our first priority.

How large and stable is that catamaran?

Each catamaran is 45ft long.  It sailed to Mexico from South Africa so no question that it is an ocean going vessel!  Because it is a catamaran and has a broad base it is very stable in the water.

Can I bring my own snorkeling gear?

Snorkeling in Mexico – If you have equipment you are familiar with please bring it with you.  Just remember to take it home at the end of the tour!

Is transport included?

We include transport on our shared tours but not on charters.  Often guests chartering Fat Cat already have a transport company picking them up at the airport and taking them on other excursions.  We like to give you the flexibility to choose the best option for your group.

Is there bathroom on board?

There are 2 bathrooms onboard our catamaran, so you can feel totally at ease chartering our catamaran

Are there child life vests on board?

Is there shade on board?

Our catamarans are Voyage DC45 catamarans.  They are specifically  built to accommodate guests who are onboard just for the day with ample seating areas, lots of shade and easy access to two bathrooms.

Will salsa and guacamole be enough food?

On a four hour charter, yes.  Please remember on a morning charter you will have breakfast before you leave your hotel or villa and be back in time for a late lunch.  On an afternoon charter you will have lunch before you join us and be back in time for dinner.  We recommend that you spend the time on boat enjoying the ocean, snorkeling, swimming and sailing.  However, if you would like additional food, and you know your group better than we do, we will be happy to provide you with our additional menu options.

Could It Be Cold?

In the winter if we have a north wind it can get a little fresh in the evening, especially after swimming or if you are taking a sunset charter.  We recommend that you bring a hoodie or sweater during these months.
